Punjab seamer Arshdeep Singh is trending on social media for a different reason today.

Punjab Kings left arm medium pacer conceded 33 runs in just two overs against Sunrisers Hyderabad in their IPL match at their homeground at PCA stadium in Mullanpur on Sunday afternoon.

Up against opener Abhishek Sharma, Arshdeep bowled two wides in the very first over of the match, conceding nine runs.

He returned in the third over to bowl four more wides -- three in a row -- to concede 24 runs in his second over of the spell.  It turned out to be a bad day for the local boy as he clearly lost the plot -- 33 runs in two overs -- especially when Punjab Kings opted to field first.

Arshdeep's ploy to bowl wide yorkers against Abhishek backfired as he was wayward. Abhishek showed no mercy to his statemate as he hit him for two sixes and three boundaries upfront when the left armer was clearly struggling.

Arshdeep bowled six wides in an over and conceded 33 runs in two overs, He has bowled 16 wides in his four matches of the IPL 2026 so far.

Çommenting on Arshdeep's wayward line, legendary Sunil Gavaskar recently said, "Maybe it’s time Arshdeep spends less time on reels and more time fixing his bowling control. Laughing off your own wides might look cool on social media, but on the field, it only shows a lack of seriousness. Cricket humbles everyone sooner or later better to focus on the skill now, the content can wait."
