Bengaluru, January 12
Siddarth Kaul picked up 4/26, including a hat-trick, and Prabhsimran Singh struck 89 off 52 balls to help Punjab beat defending champions Karnataka by nine wickets in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament at Alur on the outskirts of Bengaluru.
As Karnataka batted first, Kaul struck on the third, fourth and fifth balls of the 17th over to send back Rohan Kadam (32), Aniruddha (7) and A Mithun (0) to become the first bowler to take a hat-trick in this year’s tournament. Karnataka were restricted to 125/8 in 20 overs as Arshdeep Singh picked up 2/18 while Ramandeep Singh and Gurkeerat Mann took one wicket each.
Punjab easily aced the chase by reaching the target in 14.4 overs as Prabhsimran led the way with nine fours and five sixers in his innings.
Meanwhile, Himachal Pradesh lost to Baroda by four wickets in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20 tournament today. Baroda bowled out Himachal for 109 before scoring 112/6 to take the win. — Agencies
