Stalls displaying state’s growth since 1971 a major attraction

The display of five-decade development journey of Himachal through posters at various stalls at Paddal ground, Mandi, is a major attraction for visitors here.

Himachal got statehood on January 25, 1971.

Departments like Information and Public Relations, Agriculture, Horticulture, Forest, Forensic Science, Industry, Pollution Control Board, Health, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, PWD, Irrigation and Public Health, Tourism and a few others have set up stalls.

The Information and Public Relations Department has depicted the development journey of the state under the rule of six Chief Ministers — Dr Yashwant Parmar, Thakur Ram Lal, Shanta Kumar, Virbhadra Singh, Prem Kumar Dhumal and Jai Ram Thakur.

According to District Public Relation Officer Sachin Sangar, detailed description has been presented through pictures. Since 1971, each department has seen a lot of development. Sectors dealing with agriculture, horticulture, road construction, health services and providing potable water to village people have seen tremendous growth.

The Agriculture Department has shown the traditional way of cultivation in agriculture field, in which farmers ploughed the field with the help of oxen. With the passage of time, the department has introduced new technologies to plough the land and farmers were using power tillers now.

Similarly, the PWD has tried to depict the journey of development during the past 50 years in which many remote villages have been connected with road facility.

Different departments have shown the progress displaying chart of welfare schemes initiated by the state and Central Government for the benefit of common man.
