Asks temples, mosques to make peace efforts I Visits martyred cop’s house

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal chaired a meeting of MLAs of the violence-hit areas of the national capital on Tuesday. He also appealed to people to “stop this madness.”

He said Union Home Minister Amit Shah, during a meeting, had assured of deployment of adequate police personnel. “Everybody wants to put an end to the violence. Shah has assured us that there will be no dearth of police,” he said, while terming his meeting with Shah positive.

The CM instructed fire officials to establish coordination with police officials to reach spot in time. “The MLA belonging to border areas stressed that a number of people are coming from other states. Borders must be sealed and preventive arrests are needed,” he said.

He also visited the GTB Hospital and met those injured during the CAA protest. Accompanied by Deputy CM Manish Sisodia and Health Minister Satyendar Jain, he said, “This madness has to stop.”

He also visited the house of the martyred cop in Burari.

According to the CM, he has asked district magistrates and SDMs to conduct peace march and meetings with people. He said these meetings must see participation of MLAs. “Appeal must be made from temples and mosques to maintain peace,” the Chief Minister said.

According to police sources, around 50 cops and over 100 civilians have been injured between pro and anti-CAA groups at Jaffrabad, Maujpur, Chandbagh, Khureji Khas and Bhajanpura. Three firemen also received injuries while dousing flames in the area. (With inputs from PTI)


Shah’s letter to slain cop’s wife

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday wrote to the wife of Delhi Police Head Constable Ratan Lal, who was killed in violence over the CAA on Monday, conveying his condolences. He said the country was with the family of the brave policeman in this hour of grief. In his letter to Lal’s wife Poonam Devi, Shah said he had made the supreme sacrifice. “Your brave husband was a dedicated cop. As a true soldier he made the supreme sacrifice to serve this country,” the Home Minister wrote. PTI


Gambhir meets injured policemen

New Delhi: East Delhi MP Gautam Gambhir on Tuesday met injured DCP Shahdara Amit Sharma, ACP Anuj Jain and Head Constable Yashpal in a hospital. Gambhir said, “Nothing can be solved through violence.” IANS
