Student bodies, farmers slam ABVP for JNU attack

Chandigarh, January 5

The Students for Society (SFS) and organisations of farmers and workers have condemned the violence allegedly unleashed by the ABVP-RSS on the JNU campus.

In separate statements, SFS, Bharti Kisan Union (Dakonda), and Inqualbi Kendra Punjab said the ABVP had been threatening students protesting against fee hike for a few days and they attacked them on Sunday evening.

The organisations said Delhi Police had blocked all roads to the JNU while the media and civil society were not allowed to enter inside the campus.

Swaraj India’s president Yogendra Yadav was attacked in front of media by ABVP goons while the police witnessed everything silently. In blatant efforts of coming out clean, the ABVP is propagating that the students were beating up their activists which was ridiculous and against all evidence.

“We condemn the fascist mouthpiece of the RSS in universities unleashing terror on students protesting for their right to education and demand the most stringent action be taken against those indulging in this activity and facilitating the same,” said Raman of the SFS. The different organisations in Punjab appealed to all progressive forces, students and people to counter such forces.
