Ludhiana, February 15
Guru Nanak Khalsa College for Women, Gujarkhan campus, organised the 7th Prof Gurbir Singh Sarna Memorial Inter-College Competitions on the campus today.
The events were organised to mark the memory of late Prof Gurbir Singh Sarna, general secretary, Guru Nanak Education Trust (Gujarkhan), Gujarkhan campus, and former professor in economics at GGN Khalsa College, Civil Lines, Ludhiana.
Competitions were conducted in 10 categories– poetical recitation, declamation, creative writing, music, commerce, I-T, home science, fine arts, mass communication and psychology. As many as 21 colleges of and around Ludhiana participated in the events.
Punjabi poet Surjit Patar, chairman, Punjab Arts Council, Chandigarh, was the chief guest for the occasion. Addressing the students, he talked about the diversity of views expressed by various participants in poetry competition.
Maninder Kaur, principal of the host college, said: “The inter-college competitions are more special this year as the college is celebrating its golden jubilee. The competitions have been organised keeping in view the present need for cultural exchange and intellectual dialogue.”
