Republic Day was celebrated at educational institutions with patriotic fervour as students took the pledge to uphold their honour and integrity of the country.

Celebrations at PAU

The 71st Republic Day was celebrated at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) with great fervour. Dr Baldev Singh Dhillon, Vice-Chancellor, PAU, unfurled the national flag. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Dhillon highlighted the importance of Republic Day and made a call for becoming responsible citizens of the nation. He saluted the freedom fighters who laid down their lives for the the country. He said there were many challenges in the agriculture and stated that there was a need to work collectively with farmers to conserve natural resources and reduce the cost of production. The youth of the present era can contribute in providing solutions to the problems of the farmers, he said. Dr Dhillon revealed that the agricultural income (per family) in Punjab was still the highest in India, but efforts were needed to be made towards enhancing income from other allied agri-related occupations. He called upon the youth to adopt simplicity and bring glory to their alma-mater at the national as well as international level.

GADVASU

Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) also celebrated the Republic Day with patriotic fervor and enthusiasm at the university campus. Amarjit Singh Nanda, Vice-Chancellor, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, was the chief guest of the function. He extended his congratulation on 71st Republic Day of country. Nanda unfurled the National Flag at the parade ground and highlighted the importance and spirit of the Indian Constitution for the development and prosperity of people. NCC cadets of GADVASU presented the guard of Honour. Dr Satyavan Rampal, DSW and Dr CK Singh, Coordinator (Youth affairs) also escorted Dr Nanda. Emphasising the role that a university can play in a nation’s progress, Dr Nanda said that GADVASU as a premier institution of veterinary education was playing a significant role by excellent teaching, problem solving research with exhaustive and rigorous extension activities. The university achieved first position among all the veterinary universities in India within very short time period, since GADVASU came into existence in 2006.

BVM Kitchlu Nagar

Dedicated to the noble task of bringing betterment to the nation and reaffirming the faith in Indian Constitution, BVM, Kitchlu Nagar, celebrated the Republic Day with patriotic zeal. Reviving duties towards nation by taking oath, everybody promised to work for bringing good things of life to all Indians particularly to those who suffer from the evil of exploitation.

BVM (USN)

With an aim to evoke patriotic feelings in the young hearts, BVM (USN) celebrated the Republic Day with immense patriotic fervor. The whole campus was adorned with tricolour. The entire premises reverberated with the rhythmic patriotic beats of a mesmerising song “Jahan dal dal par....” by BVM faculty. Narinder Kaur (coordinator TGT) highlighted the importance of the day and urged the intellectual section of the society - the teachers, to give their best to the future generations and realise the dream of martyrs, making our nation a progressive and sovereign one.

BVM (Chandigarh Road)

BVM (Chandigarh Road) celebrated 71st Republic Day with great deal of patriotic zeal and fervor. The day commenced with the lamp lighting ceremony followed by the unfurling of the National Flag by Suman (sweeper) and Dilip (gardener). This was accompanied by the rendition of National Anthem. The stimulating speech delivered by Reena Maggo (Pre-Primary co-ordinator) highlighted the importance of the Constitution and its unique features enshrined in the Preamble of the constitution.

DPS Khanna

Republic Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm in DPS, Khanna. The celebration started with the unfurling of the Tricolour followed by the National Anthem. The students exhibited their feeling of patriotism with the wonderful performances. The audience was enlightened by the speeches and poems presented by the great orators of DPS, Khanna. The group song put up by the DPS Choir filled every heart with patriotism. It was an overwhelming experience to witness the marvelous dance performance representing national integration, showcasing the cultures of various states of India. Choreography depicting the sacrifice of the CRPF personnel in Pulwama attack rendered everyone speechless. The Principal S Mukherjee acquainted the students with the significance of this great day and inspired them to be responsible citizens of this country by following the principles of the Preamble.

Ryan International School

Students of Ryan International School celebrated another great occasion on the school premises the Republic Day. The students were all dressed up, and full of patriotic fervour. The celebration of the 71th Republic Day started with welcoming and badge-pinning of the guest Colonel Surinder Singh Grewal followed by Guard of Honour.

Green Land Convent, New Subhash Nagar

A special morning assembly was organised to enthuse the feeling of patriotism and unity among students here. The school choir presented a patriotic song “Lehar Lehar Lehraye Tiranga”. The whole school joined the choir and the song reverberated in the surroundings. It was followed by a beautiful rendition of a street play based on the importance of our six fundamental rights. The soulful and marvelous dance performance on “Desh Rangila” proved to be an icing on the cake. The function was followed by an inter-class competition based on various states of India. Each class represented the fusion of one state.

Indo Amercian Montessori Preschool

Children and staff celebrated Republic Day with fervour. Flag hoisting was done with patriotic fervour. Kids performed on patriotic songs. Movie Chak De India was also screened on the occasion. Teachers made them aware of the importance of the day.
