Rana aborted his run-up twice in an over, seemingly experiencing pain in his knee. Soon, he walked off the field. Rana conceded 16 runs in one over he bowled.
India T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav had earlier said injuries to key players do impact the combinations, but the team has got enough resources to manage such situations. “You make a squad thinking about combinations. If Rana is unavailable, then we have enough players to make a new combination. If we miss him, we will definitely miss him. But we have options,” Suryakumar added.
All-rounder Washington Sundar is recuperating from a side strain but remains part of the World Cup squad.
India plays USA at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, West Indies face Scotland at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, and Pakistan take on Netherlands at Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo on Saturday.
