Chandigarh Not To Be Bargained Away: Bansi Lal

From Our Correspondent

SIMLA, Sept. 10—The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Bansi Lal, declared here today that Chandigarh was final and the only thing that remained to be decided was the working out of a time-table for the implementation of the award. He disfavoured undertaking of fasts by public men on issues concerning territorial disputes. The Chief Minister, however, said if Punjab was keen to reopen the entire question of “linguistic boundaries”, the matter could be thrashed out at a high-level meeting of representatives of Haryana, Punjab and Union Governments. But he warned that if boundaries were to be redrawn, Punjab was sure to be the loser because the Kharar, Una, Pathankot and Fazilka tehsils were predominantly Hindi-speaking areas.
