THE Germans having agreed to the Allies’ terms of armistice and expressed their assent at the specified time, hostilities have ceased from Monday from which date we may safely count the beginning of a new era of peace to the world and humanity. The accounts of the negotiations between the German Government and the Allied powers regarding armistice proposals, which were the result of the thorough defeat of Germans consequent on the series of brilliant successes and the advance of the Allied armies, had kept us prepared for the early and triumphant close of the war and the readiness of Germany to accept whatever terms were imposed upon her by the victorious powers. The previous conclusion of armistice between the Allies and the nations associated with Germany rendered the capitulation of the latter all the more certain and we must be thankful for the successful end of the war to the brilliant.
