Support from the Punjab!

It seems that no reactionary propaganda is complete unless it includes an attempt to show that the Punjab is of the same mind.

It seems that no reactionary propaganda is complete unless it includes an attempt to show that the Punjab is of the same mind. Thus the Pioneer in the course of the leaderette upon which we have been commenting:- “Another of the Secretary of State’s guests, who hailed from Bengal, affirmed that the educated Indian truly represented Indian sentiments and that India’s war efforts were due to them. This will be news to the Punjab where different ideas have hitherto prevailed.” If we enquire how the writer arrives at his conclusion, we shall find he is relying upon official ipse dixits and the utterances of certain persons whose sole business is to support them. We are not aware that by a similar process it would be difficult to arrive at the same conclusion in any other country where there exists an official agency which, until now, has been master of the situation and a people claiming to come into its own. If attempt is made to arrive at the truth it would be seen that the Punjab is of the same mind as the rest of the country.
