Telangana Agitation Resumed, Over 500 Court Arrest

HYDERABAD, May 26 (UNI)—After an interval of three weeks, the ‘separate Telangana’ agitation was resumed today with the offering of satyagraha of various places in the region, including the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. The resumed agitation, described as ‘the second phase’ by the new President of the Praja Samithi and former Union Minister Dr. M. Chenna Reddy, will continue till their demand for a separate Telangana State is conceded by the Centre. Satyagraha was offered in the twin cities at different places, including the Government Secretariat and busy market centre Abids Circle. Mrs. T.N. Sadalakshmi, a former Minister, led the first batch of satyagrahis in Abids Circle along with about 30 others. They were all taken into custody by the police for defying the ban on demonstrations and meetings.
