Tears streamed down Samay Raina's face as he came onstage in Canada: Fan who attended recent show recounts his experience
As the YouTube show "India's Got Talent" continues to face flak over vulgar remarks, comedian Samay Raina, at a live show at the Myer Horowitz Theater in Edmonton, Canada, spoke about the Ranveer Allahbadia controversy.
Shubham Dutta, a fan who attended the show, shared his experience on Facebook.
In a post titled" "The Show Must Go On…”, he described Raina's emotional state on stage.
“For the first time, Samay Raina looked exhausted, with dark circles under his eyes, his face sunken from the stress of the controversy, untidy hair wearing a black hoodie, his first words into the mic, thanks for paying my lawyer’s fees."
As he stepped onto the stage, tears streamed down his face. But, he took a deep breath, gathered himself, and carried on with the show as the crowd cheered his name,” Shubham wrote in Bangla. “I finally understood the true meaning of this phrase just a few hours ago when I attended this man’s live show! For the first time, I witnessed nearly seven hundred so-called “spoiled" members of today’s generation screaming his name at the top of their lungs, while in the middle of them stood a professional stand-up comedian, tears streaming down his face right before starting the set. During the show, an audience member joked about Samay Raina, leading him to mention Ranveer Allahbadia and the controversy.
When someone from the crowd made a crude comment, Raina responded: “Iss show pe bahot mauka ayega, jahan aapko lag sakta hai ki main bahot funny kuch bol sakta hoon, par tab Beerbiceps ko yaad kar lena bhai,” Shubham wrote. As the show ended, Samay spoke about the recent events. Even during a tough time, he made the audience laugh for two hours. He closed the night with, “Shayad samay kharab chal raha hai mera, par yaad rakhna doston, main samay hoon,” as quoted in the post.
