A '7-hour sleepless train ride': Canadian couple’s rendezvous with Indian children goes viral
The couple was travelling from Jalgaon to Chandrapur in Maharashtra, and what they thought seemed logical, turned into a ‘sleepless’ yet ‘sweet’ expedition, bonding with curious children and engaging with the local community
A Canadian couple’s video is going viral over social media, where they are seen travelling in a sleeper class, not knowing beforehand that it is a term used for a ‘third class’ compartment in India. This reel has garnered over 16.2K likes on Instagram, and over a hundred comments with various reactions.
The caption of the reel reads, “One of us, me, booked an early train from Jalgon Juction to Chandrapura in a sleeping car class, thinking we would get more sleep. Seemed logical. However, one should read more about the multiple ticket classes available on the trains in India. The sleeper seat is in 3rd class on some of the trains. Certainly the 12655 nanjaveet express. Unless you book a second or third bunk, your (bed) seat, is not your own, it is a free for all. I was so impressed, amazed and all of the great feelings one can have while watching a community work together and coexist as one large family unit. The people that amassed on our bunk were from disparate families. Some bought food for us to try thru train windows at stops, the passing by food sales people on the train and some that their mother made. The kids, loved the attraction of canadian tourists, but watching the relationships and the level of cooperation between the locals is something that everyone should aspire to. A 7-hour sleepless train ride, but wouldn’t change a thing.”
One Instagram user @dhvanil22 commented, “I loved the way how positively you described your experience.” While another user suggested that if someone wants to explore India, the best is to do through sleeper class coaches.
Another user @this.is.harish commented, “My people are the kindest, especially children”, to which the couple commented “100%”.
