The Department of Environment, Tourism, Science, and Innovation has condemned the behaviour and initiated an investigation. A spokesperson stated, "We ask all Queenslanders to treat animals with respect, whether they are alive or dead. We condemn this inappropriate behaviour and will investigate the incident." They further noted that harming or killing a black-headed python could result in a fine of up to $12,615.

The incident has sparked discussions about wildlife respect and safety, with officials urging the public to treat animals with respect.
