Drill over dulhan: Bihar jawan delays his own wedding for mock drill
A home guard jawan from Bihar halted his wedding festivities to take part in a large-scale national security drill.
Sushant Kushwaha, a groom from Purnia was about to leave for the “baraat” for his wedding which was 40 kilometres away in Araria when he got a call to join “Operation Abhyaas”, a civil defence exercise rolling across 244 districts under orders of the Union Home Ministry due to the Pahalgam terror attack. Without even thinking twice he agreed to join the operation and postponed his “baraat” by two hours.
“It is my wedding today but that is not the only reason why I feel elated. Today, the Indian Army entered Pakistan and launched missile strikes in their terror bases. It is a proud moment that I am able to be a part of the drill,” Kushwaha said.
The Pahalgam terror attack, which led to the deaths of 26 civilians led to increased security across India. As a result, operations are being carried out for both military and civilian preparedness, Operation Sindoor, a military retribution project targeting terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
Sushant’s bizarre decision to prioritize his duty over his on wedding was deemed hilarious but also admired by many across the country.
“Today marks two proud events — my marriage, and a strong step against terrorism,” he said, beaming in uniform before rejoining his wedding celebration.
He continued to state, “Soldiers often leave their wedding venue to go and fight at the borders. If the situation demands, we will also do that,” claiming that the nation comes first.
