“I have only seen this in India, nowhere else”: US woman applauds Indian healthcare services
Expecting to visit a clinic for a routine blood test, she was instead told that a healthcare worker would come to her home to collect the sample
An American content creator’s video is going viral on social media after she shared her thoughts on experiencing India’s home healthcare services. Expecting to visit a clinic for a routine blood test, she was instead told that a healthcare worker would come to her home to collect the sample, leaving her astonished.
The creator, who goes by the username ‘spicygori’ on Instagram, documented the experience in a video, beginning with, “India, this is unbelievable!”
In the caption, she wrote, “I needed a blood test in Mumbai, so I called the clinic to book an appointment — fully expecting to travel there and wait in line. Instead, they said: ‘No need to come, we’ll send someone to your home.’”
Assuming there would be an additional charge for the doorstep service, she asked the healthcare worker, “Sir, how much is it for you to come here?” To her surprise, he replied, “It’s free.”
‘Only possible in India’
Documenting the entire process, the creator said the sample collection took less than five minutes. Comparing it with her experience elsewhere, she remarked that such procedures usually involve long waits, whereas she was able to get the test done while relaxing at home.
Calling the experience “crazy”, she said, “I have only seen this in India, nowhere else.”
She further wrote in the caption, “Only possible in India,” adding, “The test was already one-tenth the price of what it costs in the US—so affordable that I assumed home collection would be the catch. Nope. Completely free.”
Netizens react
The video has garnered significant engagement online, with many users praising India’s healthcare accessibility and digital infrastructure.
One user commented, “Well, no one says this out loud, but India has some of the best hospitality and affordable medical facilities. Booking appointments is easier and often faster than in many Western countries. With Digital India advancements, you can pay using UPI, book healthcare services through apps, order medicines for home delivery, get blood tests done, and receive reports by email without even visiting a hospital. Amazing, isn’t it? There’s still a long way to go, but this is definitely something to be proud of.”
Another user wrote, “Incredible India,” while a third commented, “I am proud to be Indian.”
