Chandigarh, July 5
The news of IndiGo airlines flights running behind schedule and facing nationwide delays on Saturday created a buzz on Twitter.
A significant number of its cabin crew took sick leave, with sources saying they apparently went for an Air India recruitment drive.
The Tata group-owned Air India’s recruitment drive for cabin crew started on the same day as the delay.
The ‘mass bunk’ by the crew left netizens amused, who poked fun at them for calling in sick, apparently for attending the placement drive.
Since it was a walk-in-interview, users posted hilarious memes about how they wished it were a remote interview so that the situation could be avoided.
The en masse sick leave definitely made IndiGo’s punctuality fall ill as more than 50 per cent of its flights departed late on Saturday.
The sudden sharp dip in cabin crew has led to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation seeking a report from the airlines.
