A video has surfaced online showing a railway employee discarding trash onto the tracks from the moving train, leading to widespread criticism on social media.

The incident occurred on the Subedarganj-Lokmanya Tilak Special Fare SF Special, which operates between Subedarganj and Lokmanya Tilak Terminus in Mumbai.

In the footage, a voice is heard questioning the employee’s actions, but he continues to litter despite the warning.

The video was shared on Instagram with the caption,” A senior IRCTC official throws garbage right from a moving train despite warnings. Scary to even imagine.”

As the video gained attention, Railway Seva responded on X, stating that the employee identified as Kanchan Lal, has been dismissed from his duties. Additionally, a heavy penalty was imposed on the On-Board Housekeeping Services contractor.

The official X handle of Ministry of Railways @RailwaySeva confirmed that the staff member was dismissed.

Social media users condemned the employee’s disregard for cleanliness and environmental responsibility.

A user commented, “Civic sense is the first that should be taught in schools.”

“These people can never improve”, commented another.

Another user praising the Indian Railways for its swift action commented, “This is the fastest action I’ve ever seen.”
