With Board exams currently underway across the country, a viral clip has caught the attention of netizens. The clip, that is circulating on X (formerly Twitter), brought attention to concerning exam-time practice where students often slip in money inside answer sheets – hoping to clear the examinations.

Though authorities have time and again warned against the move and tightened monitoring, the tactic still appears from time to time, and the video now being widely shared on social media is proof.

The incident in question took place during a Class XII sociology exam under the Uttar Pradesh Board. According to the user who shared the video on X, “In UP, during Class XII sociology exam. A student’s answer sheet had Rs 100 attached with Babur ka baap Shivaji and Jai Shree Ram written on it. This is the level of Education in UP where young Mindset has more polarised narratives than academic knowledge. What a Pity !!"

The clip shows not just one Rs 100 note, but multiple notes attached across many pages. There were also handwritten messages like ‘Sorry, sir galti se chhuth gaya,’ ‘Chal meri copy guru ke pas, iccha hogi wo karega pas.’ There was another visibly disturbing one that read, ‘Babar ke baap ka naam, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.’ Another simply read, ‘laadle.’ The student also repeatedly mentioned ‘Jai Shree Ram.’

In no time netizens pointed out that Babur and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj were from entirely different centuries, with one user writing, “Babur and Shivaji were not even from the same century." Another quipped, “Oh, they are writing a politics exam in a sociology paper in the hope of passing both."

At the same time, social media reactions reflected concern about the content written in the answer sheet. One comment summed it up, “It’s worrying. Exams should be about learning, not slogans or attempts to influence evaluation. We need to focus on teaching critical thinking and respect in classrooms."
