Smart or silly? Watch how this Gurgaon society turns rooftop sprinklers into 'artificial rain'
"Is this the only way to fight pollution. Why not afforestation?," an Instagram user reacted
Rahul Yadav dropped a video on Instagram of a private housing complex in Gurgaon that’s literally making its own rain to fight pollution — and the Internet is buzzing.
The Instagram clip has garnered 4.6 million views so far.
In the footage you see rows of rooftop sprinklers spraying a fine mist that drifts down like light rain across the buildings. The mist settles dust and pollutants, giving the enclave a visibly cleaner atmosphere. The society’s lush gardens, manicured lawns and walking paths look almost surreal against the city’s choking smog.

Yadav captioned it: “A society in Gurgaon that keeps AQI low with Artificial Rain. While the whole city struggles to breathe, this place creates its own rain to fight pollution and it works. This is what futuristic living looks like.”
Meanwhile, the video received mixed reactions. "Save water Save Planet. Is this the only way to deal with pollution? Artificial rain, why not afforestation?," an individual reacted. “Why can’t the government ask every society and office to do this?,” a user commented. A third wrote, "We will do anything but plant trees."
