Thought-provoking Opinions, Expert Analysis, In-depth Insights and other Member Only BenefitsIndian cricketer Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal’s wedding, which was put on hold after the batter’s father was hospitalised, has become the centre of intense online speculation after rumours alleged Palash had cheated with a choreographer. With names such as Nandika Dwivedi and Gulnaaz circulating on social media, both choreographers have issued public statements denying any involvement and calling the allegations baseless.
Nandika posted a detailed note on Instagram on Friday, dismissing all claims linking her to the controversy.
“Over the past few years, I’ve seen speculation about my involvement in a situation that has been deeply personal for other people… the assumptions being made about me, particularly the idea that I played a role in disrupting anyone’s relationship, are simply NOT true,” she wrote.
Calling out media outlets for amplifying unverified Reddit posts, she said the false rumours had taken a toll on her mental health.
“I had been receiving threats… that’s why I had my account private. Please do not take my name further than this; I have nothing to do with any of it. Eventually, the truth will find its way,” she added.
Gulnaaz, the other choreographer named in the speculation, also issued a statement asserting that she had no connection to the couple’s wedding being postponed.
The ceremony was halted after Smriti’s father, Shrinivas Mandhana, fell ill on the wedding day and was rushed to a hospital in Sangli following symptoms of heart attack. A day later, Palash himself was hospitalised.
Following her father’s hospitalisation, Smriti removed all pre-wedding posts from her Instagram.
