As India secured a thrilling seven-run victory in a high-scoring affair at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium over England on Thursday to reach the finals of the T20 World Cup 2026, the win felt personal to many. Be it actor Ranbir Kapoor who watched the match with family from the stand or Union Minister Amit Shah congratulating the team’s win.
However, it was MS Dhoni's behind-the-scenes moment with wife Sakshi that ultimately stole the show. The former India captain and his wife made a rare appearance and watched the match from the VVIP box. But what happened next has everyone talking.
At one moment, Sakshi was seen jumping in excitement mistaking a wicket in a video that has gone viral and Dhoni can be seen asking her to calm down. The incident occurred in the 18th over of the England chase. Jasprit Bumrah nailed a full delivery to Sam Curran who hit it straight back to the bowler. While it took a bounce before making to Bumrah, many in the crowd, including Sakshi Dhoni thought it carried straight to the fast bowler. Sakshi jumped and screamed in excitement only for Dhoni to explain what had really happened.
