Influencers using beauty filters to gain followers is not something new. However, it suddenly malfunctioning during a live stream is any streamer's nightmare. One such incident recent went viral where a Chinese female streamer reportedly lost 1.4 lakh followers after the beauty filter she was using suddenly flipped and briefly revealed her real face.

In the clip, the influencer is seen hosting a live session when the beauty filter drops for a few seconds and her natural face appears, showing normal skin texture and a warmer skin tone. However, moments later, the filter switches back on, showing a smooth, pale and doll-like appearance with larger eyes and a sharper jawline.

Despite the unexpected glitch, she remains calm, adjusts her hair, smiles and continues the session.

Several posts circulating online claim that she lost 1,40,000 followers almost immediately after the incident. While the exact number has not been officially confirmed, the claim has been widely repeated across platforms such as X and Instagram.

The clip has drawn strong reactions online. Some users criticised the practice of using heavy filters.

A user wrote, “Filters should be criminalised." Another commented that the filter flipped between “maid mode" and “cute mode". A third user described the incident as “literally false advertising".
