Uttar Pradesh grocer’s daughter cracks Civil Services exam with AIR 9
This was her third attempt in the prestigious examination
Aastha Jain from Shamli in Uttar Pradesh has shown that determination can turn dreams into reality.
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) recently announced the results of the Civil Services Examination 2025, and she secured an impressive All India Rank 9.
There were celebrations at her place as family, friends and neighbours congratulated her.
Aastha, who is undergoing training for the IPS, had taken a break to prepare for the exam. This was her third attempt. In her first attempt, she had secured AIR 131, which led to her selection in the IPS. In her second attempt, she achieved rank 181.
But she had her sights set on becoming an IAS officer and made it in the third attempt.
According to a report in ‘Bhaskar English’, before opting for self-study, Aastha had taken coaching in Delhi for some time.
Aastha’s family lives at Kandhla town in Shamli district of Uttar Pradesh. Her father, Ajay Jain, runs a small grocery shop, while her mother, Mamta, is a homemaker.
A video of Aastha’s father in his shop with a pen tucked behind his ear is being widely shared on X. The video has drawn heartfelt reactions, with one user commenting, “This is not just a rank, it’s a victory for the dreams of every small trader. Hearty congratulations to Aastha Jain."
Aastha credits her parents, siblings and teachers for supporting her throughout her journey.
Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Maurya also congratulated her in a post on X, calling it a proud moment for Shamli and the state.
