In a story that has captured hearts around the globe, a stray dog in Turkish capital Istanbul displayed extraordinary maternal instinct by bringing her gravely ill puppy to a veterinary clinic in the Beylikduzu neighborhood. The CCTV footage of the event has gone viral, showcasing a moment of hope, resilience, and love.

A mother’s determination

The mother dog, now affectionately named "Mom" by the veterinary staff, was seen braving the rain with her puppy in her mouth, heading to the clinic’s front door. According to The Associated Press, veterinary technician Emir was the first to spot the dog and quickly realized the urgency of the situation.

“At first, we thought the puppy was dead,” veterinarian Baturalp Dogan shared with the AP. “The animal was cold as ice. But when we checked with a stethoscope, we heard a faint heartbeat. That’s when we started the fight to save him.”

Dogan and Emir immediately administered an adrenaline shot and began warming the puppy with a hairdryer. Throughout the ordeal, the mother dog stayed close, anxiously watching her baby being treated.

A second chance at life

The clinic later discovered that the mother had already lost most of her litter. According to The Dodo, a Good Samaritan had brought in one surviving puppy earlier that day, unaware of the second pup’s dire condition. Tragically, when the mother returned with a third puppy, it was too late to save the little one.

“Their mother is weak, but we are feeding her intensively,” veterinarian Baturay Oğan told The Sun. “The remaining two puppies are now in good health, and their treatment will continue for a while longer.”

Her two surviving puppies

The veterinary clinic is now caring for the mother and her two surviving puppies, providing food and warmth. Dr. Oğan expressed hope for their future, stating, “We aim to find a loving home for the dog family once they fully recover.”

Social media’s reaction

The touching story has sparked an outpouring of love and admiration online. “Wow…she knew what to do. Amazing,” one commenter wrote on NBC News’s Instagram post. Another called the mother dog a true hero, saying, “This is love in its purest form.”

As the dog family continues their recovery, this story stands as a poignant reminder of the extraordinary bonds animals share and their unyielding will to survive.
