Vetran actor and Rajya Sabha MP Jaya Bachchan, known for her short temper in public, made headlines again after a video of her reacting sharply to a fan at the prayer meet of late actor-director Manoj Kumar on Sunday went viral on social media.

In the video, Jaya is seen speaking with a group of women when an elderly woman taps her on the shoulder. As Jaya turns around, a man – likely accompanying the woman – tries to take a picture with his phone. When the woman extends her hand for a handshake, Jaya is seen pushing it aside and rebuking the man for attempting to click photo at such an occasion.

Her reaction has triggered mixed responses online. While some users criticised her harsh behaviour, others supported her stance, saying that a prayer meet is not an appropriate setting for selfies.

One user commented, “I don’t think she was trying to meet but was trying to click a photo with Jaya. A funeral is not the right place to click pictures. Jaya can also talk politely.” Another wrote, “I am sorry, but why on earth would you think a funeral is an appropriate place to ask for photos?” Yet another fan added, “People trying to click pictures in a prayer meet should be kicked out. This time, Jaya is right.”

The prayer meet was held to honour Manoj Kumar, who passed away early on Friday due to heart-related complications in Mumbai. He is remembered for his iconic films such as “Shaheed”, “Upkar”, “Purab Aur Pachhim”, “Roti Kapda Aur Makan”, and “Kranti”.

The event was attended by several film industry veterans and celebrities, including Aamir Khan, Asha Parekh, Ramesh Sippy, Rakesh Roshan, Honey Irani, David Dhawan, Johny Lever, Jaaved Jaaferi, Subhash Ghai, Aruna Irani, Ranjeet, Shekhar Suman, Ashoke Pandit, Vindu Dara Singh, Mukesh Rishi, Esha Deol, Zayed Khan, Dheeraj Kumar, Poonam Sinha, Sonu Nigam, Udit Narayan, and Anu Malik.
