Décor Mantra

  • Vintage floral prints in furniture, lamp shades or cushions. As painted motifs, these can be introduced on the surfaces of end tables, consoles, coffee tables, decorative boxes, magazine holders, trays and other smaller accessories.
  • A breath of freshness: Go for airy, lighter fabrics to keep things fluid and infuse more brightness into your space.
  • Summer colours like yellow, orange, green, etc are the obvious choices, however, finding a unique shade that complements the existing scheme is the key.

Things to focus on

Add fresh colours and textures through cushions, furnishings, artworks and accessories. Go for colourful outdoors with a play of patterns, textures, materials and finishes.

Statement style....

This summer celebrate an eclectic and colourful mix of floral motifs, dynamic patterns, varied textures and interesting layering without making it look heavy.

Philosophy @ work

A timeless fusion of the classic and contemporary, a richly layered look with carefully mounted textures, colours, materials and styles. Not for us the clean, minimal look.

What’s IN

Time to embrace a timeless trend — classic-contemporary motifs, matt finishes, glossy metallic touches, masterful mixing of styles never go out of fashion.

What’s Out

Once you have embraced a timeless look, you’re not worried about it going out of fashion.

Décor Mantra

  • Floral and geometric prints for furniture
  • Terracotta and ceramics along with indoor plants
  • Mustard yellow being incorporated into spaces in various ways.
  • Colours that will rule summer include living coral, golden ochre, flamingo pink, tangerine, buttercream yellow, sage green, peach, mustard, to name a few.

Things to focus on

Watercolour, floral patterns, and colourful brush strokes bring an artistic touch to a home's design and that will be the main focus of this season. One of the easiest ways to create a bold statement with geometric patterns is through wallpapers.

Statement style....

Simple, chic and colourful.

Philosophy @ work

Your home should have an inspiring, peaceful and modern decor that deserves a lot of love and dedication. When you think about decorating your house, we think of adding the personality and uniqueness of the homemaker into it to make it feel like home.

What’s IN

Mix-and-match prints for wallpaper, linens, and furniture. Prints and textures are catching the eye of the modern-day home maker.

What’s Out

All-white everything is a summer trend which is out this year. The experimental richly-colored spaces have been a hit this year with not only the primary colours being used, but also secondary and tertiary levels getting incorporated in their own ways.

Meenu Agarwal
Principal Designer, MADS Creations

Décor Mantra

  • The best and sure-fire trend is planted greens in an array of pots.
  • Giant floral arrangements as centre pieces.
  • Thirdly, bright sunny colours brought in through accent furniture, accessories and furnishings magically turn the place summer-ready.
  • Colors that will rule summer this year are  turquoise, blues, blush and pastels.

Things to focus on

Have more greens inside as well as outside, and in very creative ways. The choice of plants, the shape of their leaves, the planter, and the stand on which it is perched, everything adds layers of interest.

Statement style....

Add more organic appeal to interior décor using natural materials for accessories and also reveling in summer colours.

Philosophy @ work

Décor that spells grandeur, yet is contemporary with hints of the classic. This can be achieved by adorning luxury spaces with lots of gloss and sophistication lent by the rich materials, furniture and an ecelectic collection of antiques and accessories .

What’s IN

You can never fail with a bright space peppered with vibrant, quirky art pieces, natural fabrics and sophisticated furnishings.

What’s Out

What is definitely out is overpowering dark colours, mish-mash of textures and heavy fabrics that weigh down the space.

Hardesh Chawla
Founder-Director, Essentia Environments

Décor Mantra

  • For a modern take, add geometric patterns to your space through area rugs, cushions, furnishings.
  • Secondly, a clean and gleaming palette goes a long way in creating a light and fluid space that is light on the eyes and brightens up your whole world.
  • Thirdly, bring vivaciousness into your space with vivid hued accents and art works. Colours in small doses against neutral are a definitive mood up lifter.
  • Colours that will rule summer are vivid, happy hues in small doses that will stand out of neutral spaces.

Things to focus on

We would like to lighten up spaces with sheer, flowy curtains in neutral shades. They open the interiors to the outdoors and cast a beautiful diffused light.

Statement style....

Go for a minimal look that delivers maximum charm. Add exquisite and vibrant touches by choosing accessories and artworks that reflect the overall decor theme that you are working on.

Philosophy @ work

Minimal, yet unapologetically luxurious and sophisticated contemporary spaces that combine elements of the classic for an ageless style.

What’s IN

Clean, non-fussy décor that plays host to an array of design elements in a harmonious way is always in. Floral arrangements, potted plants of various kinds in eye-catching planters and quirky accent pieces are like cherry on such design scheme.

What’s Out

A cacophony of colours, too many elements creating disharmony are out.

Tips

  • Incorporate plants in your home decor to make your living space more comfortable, breathable, and luxurious.
  • One of the most effective ways to enhance your home with geometric and floral patterns is to customise your flooring with decorative rugs for the summer.
  • Minimalistic decor would be ideal this hot season to avoid cramping up of the space with many elements and make it spacious.
  • Transit from heat producing lighting to LEDs and CFLs for a breezy and cool summer.
