Play with hues

Parul Mittal

From simple changes like adding a little colour to your upholstery or even refurbishing your furniture, this season is synonymous with new things. This season brings with it an explosion of colours — everywhere you look there is a feel of vibrancy. The best part is that you can play with almost every possible element in your room. Read on to find out how, from vibrant cushions to towering walls, you can customise almost everything to give your home a magnificent look.

Subtle elegance with a hint of sheen

This festive season try exclusive blends of impeccable quality with a touch of elegance. The key is to go for a subtle look that can last, and simply accentuate it with the right colours. Choose combinations like dark browns complemented with glowing copper and gold. Dark wood brings delicious chocolate brown hues into interiors giving a touch of luxury to room decoration.

Dark colours highlight the beauty of metallics. Be it dark wood floors and dark veneer furniture or dark colours on the wall, metal interiors add grace and panache to your room. Apart from brass, dull-gold has also become a key colour. It complements the dark colours perfectly. Hints of premium gold laminates with dark wood floors is an excellent way to be subtle and bold at the same time.

Break the myth

Veneers have the tendency to emit silver and gleam when put under light and add a unique radiance to your space. A combination that works well is of millennial pink with muted silver, while keeping the interiors fuss-free.

Who said that tints of pink can’t be used in interior décor? It is interesting how millennial pink is not actually one colour but  a range of shades of pink from beige with a dusting of blush to a salmon-peach hybrid. This shade highlights brass and gold tones perfectly and adds passion and zeal to the entire picture.

You can pair a mirror with antique gold finishes with a bold colour chair, like electric blue or emerald green which will add a classic pop of colour to the entire vision. Use accents of dull gold in the form of frames for your mirror or drawer knobs. The shades of golds paired with dark floors allow you to easily switch between hot and trending to classy and stylish.

A sophisticated aura

Wood has always been a classic choice and will remain an all-time favourite trend. While it can make your home look traditional, why not change it by using the “hue effect”? Go for tan grey real wood floors paired with a Persian floral rug under your coffee table to make it look distinct and edgy. Wooden stairs have become a statement piece too. Dark wood stairs leading up to the gallery or to your door which is decorated with candles can be a subtle way to bring that festive vibe to your house. Veneers are also quite popular in the industry and give you a bit of flexibility to experiment with your space.

These can be applied to various surfaces and practically transform the subject. You can also upgrade to real wood floors to add that subtlety and nostalgia to your space. There are a lot of options in terms of colours and shades of the wood in the market.

As they say, there is something in store for everyone. For the ones who prefer sophisticated and minimalistic décor, a monochromatic theme will turn out to be an incredible option.

Experimenting with a little mix and match is the perfect way to achieve a home of your dreams. Let yourself be creative, let it shine, let it be you.

Accentuate

Highlight the whole décor with throws, cushions and other accessories and tassels. Be a little experimental with your home this year and let the bling and chime take you to a world of flair and luxury.
