Chandigarh, December 12

A local court has awarded two-year imprisonment to two youths for causing hurt using dangerous weapons. However, the court acquitted them of attempt to murder charges.

The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Sanjiv Joshi also imposed a fine of Rs 1,000 on them. The convicts have been identified as Amir Khan, a resident of Mauli Complex, Chandigarh, and Rohit, alias Tottla, a resident of Rajiv Colony, Panchkula.

The matter dates back to November 9, 2017, when the police received information that someone had been stabbed with a knife in Mauli Complex, Chandigarh. On reaching there, they were told that the injured had already been rushed to the Civil Hospital, Sector 6, Panchkula.

In a complaint to the police, Sahil had alleged that he was pursuing BSc (second year) from ITFT College, Mullanpur, and was staying in Mauli Complex.

He was sitting outside a house when Rohit came there from behind and gave a blow on his back and enquired from him as to why he was sitting there. He answered that he had come to meet some friend, but Rohit threatened him not to come there in future and started beating him.

When he tried to save himself, then other people, including Amir Khan and two juveniles, came there and started beating him and one of the juveniles stabbed him with a knife. As he cried for help, they all fled from the spot.

Following his complaint, an FIR under Sections 324, 307 and 34 of the IPC was registered.

After hearing the arguments, the court acquitted the two of the offence under Section 307 (attempt to murder), but held them guilty for having committed an offence under Sections 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC read with Section 34 of the IPC.
