Use social media with restraint: NCM member

Mansa, November 21

The member of the National Commission for Minorities (NCM), Manjit Singh Rai, on Thursday called upon all sections of society to exercise self-restraint over use and propagation of communal thoughts on social media to ensure peace and tranquility in society.

Addressing a meeting along with Mansa DC Apneet Riyait, Manjit Singh Rai said social media had become the most powerful tool of communication but required strict self-monitoring and restraint. He called upon leaders of minority groups to develop a mechanism on social media that could propagate harmony and act as an inhibitor in events of communal disharmony.

Laying an emphasis on issues of minority communities, he said students from minority communities should be given proper guidance on various scholarships available for them. — TNS
