The impact was severe, leaving the car mangled, police said.
Senior Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kumar said the five occupants of the vehicle were rushed to the district hospital, where Sagar (24), Himanshu (25) and Yash (23) were declared dead.
The two injured, identified as Varun and Sushant, were referred to a higher centre due to their critical condition, he said, adding that an investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances that led to the crash.
