Viral photo: SHO ‘mixes ash’ in ‘bhandara’ food for devotees at Maha Kumbh; suspended
A police officer was suspended on Thursday after he was seen mixing ash in food prepared at a ‘Bhandara’ in a video that has gone viral on social media.
The police officer was seen mixing ash in the food which was prepared for the devotees participating in the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.
DCP (Ganga Nagar) Kuldeep Singh Gunawat told PTI that the officials took action against the Station House Officer (SHO) of Soraon Brijesh Kumar Tiwari after he was seen spoiling the food prepared at a ‘Bhandara’ in a video which surfaced on the social media platform.
The video was shared by a user on X who tagged the account of DCP Ganga Nagar and appealed for strict action against the officer who committed this “shameful act."
DCP Ganga Nagar’s official account replied to the post, “Taking cognizance of the matter, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Ganga Nagar) has suspended the Soraon SHO based on a report from ACP Soraon. Departmental proceedings are underway."
Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav also shared the video on social media and appealed the people to take note of it.
“It is unfortunate that the good efforts of those who are making arrangements to provide food and water to those stranded at the Maha Kumbh are being scuttled due to political animosity. The public should take notice!" Yadav said.
