Cong, BJP MLAs apprise Paul of people’s problems

DEHRADUN: Legislators of the Congress and the BJP met Governor KK Paul at the Secretariat here today and apprised him about the problems being faced by residents of their Assembly constituencies.

Legislators of the Congress and the BJP met Governor KK Paul at the Secretariat here today and apprised him about the problems being faced by residents of their Assembly constituencies.

MLA Surendra Singh Jina from the Salt constituency, Chandan Ramdas (Bageshwar), Puran Singh Fartyal (Lohaghat) and Dr Prem Singh (Nanakmatta) placed their demands before the Governor. MLA Sunder Lal Mandrawal from the Pauri constituency, Harbhajan Singh Cheema (Kashipur) and Bishan Singh Chufal (Didihat) also requested the Governor to take appropriate action.

Later in the afternoon, six Congress MLAs, namely Sarita Arya, Ganesh Godiyal, Harish Chandra Durgapal, Mantri Prasad Naithani, Sarvat Kareem Ansari and Haridas, met the Governor at Raj Bhavan. They narrated problems of their constituencies. They said vacant posts of teachers should be filled.

Earlier, former Chief Minister Narayan Dutt Tiwari met the Governor at the Secretariat. He requested Paul to take appropriate action for converting Sushila Tiwari Medical College into AIIMS. He also sought employment for the workers who were unemployed since the closure of the HMT factory.

Governor presents chadar for Ajmer Sharif

Paul presented flowers and ‘chadar’ (holy cloth) to be offered at the shrine of Khwaja Garib Nawaz Moinuddin Chishti, Ajmer, on the occasion of 804th Urs of the revered Sufi saint.

He prayed for peace, happiness, prosperity and harmony for people of the state. Poet Afzal Manglori, secretary of the Uttarakhand Nagrik Samman and Sadhbhav Committee, and coordinator of Kaliyar Sharif, would offer the flowers and ‘chadar’ at Ajmer on behalf of the Governor.

The Governor said Sufi saints always spread the message of harmony, brotherhood and peace which was a symbol of our national integrity, unity and cultural and social harmony

Poet Afzal Manglori, Maulana Munnaber Husain, Pandit Parmod Jauhar, Father Dayal M Lal, Karam Khan Sabri and Gaurav Goel were present on the occasion.
