Dehradun, July 11

Coming to the rescue of fasting Swami Gyan Swarup Sanand seeking   legislation for the protection of the Ganga, the Uttarakhand High Court on Wednesday directed the government to admit him to AIIMS (Rishikesh) if he was unwell or allow him to go back to Maitri Sadan.

The fasting saint was allegedly removed by the authorities from Maitri Sadan on July 10 and taken to an unknown destination.

While hearing the petition filed by Swami Sanand, Justices Alok Singh and Rajiv Sharma directed the Principal Secretary (Home) to disclose the address to his followers where the saint was being kept.

They also directed the Chief Secretary to hold discussions with the saint. — TNS
