Dehradun, November 11

Former Uttarakhand Kranti Dal (UKD) leader Diwakar Bhatt, along with his supporters, joined the BJP here today. Ajay Bhatt, state president of the BJP, welcomed Diwakar Bhatt. BJP workers hailed Diwakar’s decision to join the party.

Bhatt had fought the 2012 Assembly elections on a BJP ticket without joining the party. He has always been a supporter of the BJP. He was a part of the BJP Cabinet as a UKD member in 2007 as his party had extended support to the BC Khanduri-led BJP government. In 2011, the UKD had snapped ties with the BJP, following which Diwakar was expelled from the party. Later, he formed his own UKD (D) group.

Recently, he was working for the unity of the UKD, but he changed his mind and joined the BJP today.
