Dehradun, July 17
As part of its 69th Van Mahotsav celebrations, Forest Research Institute, Dehradun planted a large number of tree saplings in its campus. Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education, Director General Dr S C Gairola, kickstarted the celebrations by planting a sapling of amaltas.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Gairola emphasized that in order to provide clean atmosphere for future generations, conservation of environment by planting more trees in the surrounding areas was imperative.
Dr Savita, Director, FRI and Omkar Singh, Director Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy (IGNFA) also planted a sapling each on the occasion encouraging others to plant trees in the vicinity of their households.
