Youth’s role important in nation building: Jain

DEHRADUN: The Doon University Vice-Chancellor, Prof VK Jain, today emphasised the importance of the participation of the youth and the role of universities in nation building, on the fourth day of toppers’ conclave at Raj Bhavan.

The Doon University Vice-Chancellor, Prof VK Jain, today emphasised the importance of the participation of the youth and the role of universities in nation building, on the fourth day of toppers’ conclave at Raj Bhavan.

He said about 65 per cent of the country’s population was comprised of youth. He said talent, ability, energy, enthusiasm, and thinking of youths could go a long way in giving direction to the process of nation building. With the support of youth power, India could become the strongest nation financially by 2030, he said.

He said universities, research and development centres and youth were together responsible for bringing about positive and creative changes. Jain said the Union and state governments should ensure necessary infrastructure in educational institutions.

A special focus was required for quality education and research and development. He laid stress on the need of giving profession skills and moral values to students of the country. Referring to the country’s remarkable progress in the spheres of space, defence and nuclear science, Jain expressed hope that youths would contribute in nation building by overcoming challenges.

The participants said right guidance and determination would prove extremely beneficial for the country’s development. They said educational institutions should not impart theoretical knowledge only. According to them, youths should be given opportunities to contribute to the nation’s development. Moreover, youths should actively participate in politics for a healthy democracy.

In the second session today, Uttarakhand Technical University Vice Chancellor Dr PK Garg spoke on the development of infrastructure in Uttarakhand. He said the infrastructure was directly linked to development.

Dr Garg said it would be next to impossible for any state or country to have overall development without proper infrastructure for students.

According to him, physical connectivity, economic connectivity, electronic connectivity and knowledge connectivity were the main basis of strengthening education system in the country.

Dr Garg said migration from tough hilly areas could be easily checked if state government improveed infrastructure in the remote areas of the state. Talking about the challenges in the way of infrastructure development in Uttarakhand, he said these challenges could be met by using the right human resource at right time along with natural resources.

He said development schemes could be made on the basis of local needs and aspirations and opportunities for employment could be created by planned development.

Governor Dr KK Paul was present at both sessions and termed both sessions extremely beneficial for students. He said students should effectively contribute for the overall development of the country.

He said students should take effective steps to throw social evils from our society in order to ensure healthy development of our society.
