Vet inspectors demand pay rise, stage protest

Mohali, February 21

Members of the Punjab State Veterinary Inspectors’ Association today staged a protest against their demands at Dasehra Ground, Phase 8, Mohali.

The protest was organised in the leadership of Nirmal Saini, state president of the association. He said their demands such as registration, service rule implementation, development channel and increase in pay scale, have not been not fulfilled by the government.

Various inspectors working in village and city veterinary hospitals and dispensaries took part in the protest. After discussing their demands with each other, the protesters conducted a march towards Punjab Vidhan Sabha, Chandigarh. However, they were stopped at the Chandigarh-Mohali border by the police at YPS chowk here, where they remained sitting for few hours. Various slogans were raised by them against the state government.

The memorandum was taken by Secretary of Animal Husbandry Department, Manjit Singh and assured the protesters to discuss on their demands.
