Woman held with 35 boxes of illicit liquor

The Mohali police along with Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) and the Block Development and Panchayat Officer recovered 35 boxes of illicit liquor from a woman here at Phase 9. Mohali SDM Jagdeep Saigal said a naka was set up to check the movement of vehicles in the city. A car coming towards Phase 9 was stopped by them and on checking the vehicle, 35 boxes of liquor were recovered. “On asking about the identity, the woman claimed that she was a reporter. The liquor, she was carrying in her vehicle was meant for sale in Chandigarh only,” said the SDM.

The accused woman identity was not known yet. She has been sent to the Phase 11 police station. A case will be registered against her under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, added the SDM.
