Woman’s kin hold protest, want her in-laws booked

Muktsar, February 13

A large number of people under the banner of Bharti Kisan Union (Qadian) staged a protest outside the Kotbhai police station in Gidderbaha subdivision (pic) here on Thursday. They were demanding that the woman’s in-laws should be booked for ‘thrashing’ her family.

Jagsir Singh, president, Bharti Kisan Union (Qadian), Bathinda district, said, “The woman, a resident of Ganga Ablu Ki village, is married at Bhallaiana village in Muktsar district. For the last about one-and-a-half years, her parents and in-laws are having tiff over some issue. On January 19, the woman’s family members went to drop her at in-laws’ residence, they thrashed them. We demand action against them.”

Angrej Singh, SHO, Kotbhai police station, said, “A case has already been registered against woman’s family members on the complaint lodged by her in-laws. We can’t cancel it merely on their statement. If they come out clean in the probe, the case will be cancelled.” — TNS
