Indian duo bags UK radio docu award

London: A duo behind India's first podcast celebrating motorcycling and documenting its history bagged a prestigious 3,000-pound UK award for their first-of-its-kind concept of a ‘Biker Radio Rodcast’. Shirshendu Banerjee and Arvinder Singh, known as Shandy and Sunny, won the Whickers Radio & Audio Funding Award runners-up prize as they take part in the Raid de Himalaya. ptI

Chinese firm eyes Serena’s racquet maker

Hong Kong: China’s Anta Sports Products has offered to pay $5.5 billion for the firm that makes the Wilson tennis racquets used by Serena Williams. Anta has joined buyout firm FountainVest Partners to offer $46.5 a share for Finland’s Amer Sports, one of the world’s biggest sports equipment firms that also owns popular ski brands Salomon and Atomic. Anta, a Chinese homegrown sports company with a market value of $12.5 billion, has been seeking acquisitions of international brands. afp

NY overtakes London as top financial centre

London: New York has overtaken London as the world’s most attractive financial centre, a survey said on Wednesday, as Britain’s decision to leave the European Union prompts banks to shift jobs out of the city to preserve access to Europe’s single market. New York took first place, followed by London, Hong Kong and Singapore in the Z/Yen global financial centres’ index.  reuters
