It was a narrow escape for two women, who escaped from an SUV after it plunged into the Hackensack River in New York on Tuesday afternoon while they were exiting a River Street car wash.
A video shows the driver, 64, mistakenly pressed on the accelerator pedal instead of the brake, sending the Mercedes SUV into the river.
The women were saved by a 41-year-old Guttenberg man, who jumped into the river pulled both the driver and her 27-year-old passenger from the vehicle.
The driver was admitted to Hackensack University Medical Center with minor injuries.
