S Korea’s Park given eight more years in prison: court

SEOUL: Ousted South Korean president Park Geun-hye was sentenced to eight years in prison on Friday on charges including illegally receiving funds from the country’s spy agency, a court said.

Ousted South Korean president Park Geun-hye was sentenced to eight years in prison on Friday on charges including illegally receiving funds from the country’s spy agency, a court said.

The Seoul Central District Court handed Park six years on the spy fund charges, and two further years in jail for improperly intervening in the selection of parliamentary election candidates. AFP
