China imposes cooling-off period to check divorce rate
Beijing: Chinese courts are imposing “cooling-off” periods to couples seeking legal separation to reconsider their decision in a bid to check the sharp increase of divorce rate in the country. In the past two years, cooling-off periods — lasting from two weeks to three months — have been imposed on couples filing for divorce in 118 courts across Beijing and Sichuan and Shandong provinces, the state-run China Daily reported on Monday. Colombo: Sri Lanka’s Inspector General of Police Pujith Jayasundera has directed the country’s tourist police personnel to learn international languages, including Hindi, Chinese and French, as the tourism sector is set to be the biggest forex earner for the island nation. Islamabad: A young Pakistani couple have been arrested for allegedly kissing and cuddling in a car here, a media report said on Monday. The couple, aged around 18-19 years, have been booked for “obscene acts”, an offence punishable with imprisonment for up to three months, or with fine, or both, The Express Tribune reported. PTI
