UK, Germany sign 52 million pound deal for Advanced Mobile Artillery

RCH 155 systems to enhance long-range firepower and mobility for both armies

Britain on Sunday announced that it has signed a 52 million pound (USD 70 million) joint procurement contract with Germany to acquire advanced artillery systems mounted on armoured vehicles. The systems are capable of firing while on the move and striking targets at distances of more than 70 km (44 miles).

In a statement, the UK Ministry of Defence said the deal will provide the British Army with an early capability demonstrator of the RCH 155 system, while two units will be delivered to Germany for testing.

The RCH 155 system is manufactured by Franco-German defence group KNDS in partnership with Germany’s Rheinmetall. According to the statement, the system can fire up to eight rounds per minute while moving, operate with a two-member crew, and travel up to 700 km without refuelling.
