Jarkhar Academy cruise ahead

LUDHIANA: Jarkhar Academy along with Kila Raipur, Jalandhar and Bathinda won matches to advance into the super league stage on the third day of the Punjab Schools State Hockey Championship for Boys being organised by the Education Department at Prithipal Singh Memorial AstroTurf Stadium of Punjab Agricultural University today.

Ludhiana, December 23

Jarkhar Academy along with Kila Raipur, Jalandhar and Bathinda won matches to advance into the super league stage on the third day of the Punjab Schools State Hockey Championship for Boys being organised by the Education Department at Prithipal Singh Memorial AstroTurf Stadium of Punjab Agricultural University today.

In the quarterfinals, Bathinda prevailed over Ferozepur 8-6. The issue was resolved through tie-breaker as the two sides were tied 3-all at the end of the regular period. Jarkhar Academy trounced Patiala district 7-0 to join Bathinda in the super league. The third quarterfinal was played between Jalandhar and Ludhiana districts in which the former came out triumphant 6-1 while Kila Raipur proved too good for Moga 6-2. Tomorrow, the first match in the super league will be played between Jarkhar Academy and Kila Raipur at 9 am and the second match is slated to begin at 11 am between Jalandhar and Bathinda districts.
