Charge sheet issued to doc

The government has issued a charge sheet to Dr Alka Mittal regarding the death of two newborns and three stillborn babies at the mother and child hospital here on November 23.

However, Dr Mittal said she was yet to receive the charge sheet. The government had suspended her a day after the incident.

Meanwhile, show-cause notices have been issued to the SMO, Dr RK Karkara, and Dr Yogesh Khanna. Besides, a notice have been issued to Class IV employee Kanta Devi and a warning letter to staff nurse Rajini.

Earlier, Dr Karkara was transferred to Sanhewal and Dr Khanna to Maachiwara. Class IV employee Kanta Devi was transferred to Koom Kalan.

Dr Khanna has been accused of not coming to the operation theatre while Manjit Bajwa was operating upon Manjit Kaur. — TNS
