Chandigarh, December 24

The Court of Additional District and Sessions Judge KK Kareer today framed charges of breach of trust and corruption against Yograj Sharma, former Under Secretary with Punjab Civil Secretariat.

He was booked last year in connection with the mysterious disappearance of 27 confidential files of several IAS and PCS officers of Punjab cadre. A total 35 files had gone missing from the Punjab Civil Secretariat. Seven files were located in March, 2011.

Last year in March, the police had registered an FIR against Sharma, the then Under Secretary in the Personnel Department. Sharma had also been indicted in a departmental probe conducted by an IAS rank official of the Punjab cadre. The criminal complaint against Sharma was moved by Ravi, the then under secretary of the Department of Personnel.

Sharma was arrested earlier this year and is out on bail now. The police said the missing files related to serious complaints and inquiries against IAS and PCS officers.
