Chandigarh, December 24

Andhra Pradesh lads defeated Goa by 3-1 in a match of the ongoing 41st Junior National Volleyball Championship for Boys and Girls being held at Shivalik Public School, Sector 41, and Sports Complex in Sector 7 here today. Meanwhile, while, in the girls’ category, Andhra Pradesh overpowered Chandigarh by a similar score of 3-1.

Andhra Pradesh won their opening game at 25-16 while went down in the next at 24-26. After tasting defeat, the winning side came up well and posted back-to-back victories to win the game by 25-19 and 25-14.

In another well contested match of the same category Jharkhand overpowered Tripura. After winning, the stretched first set at 28-26, the winning side continued to perform well and won the next at 25-18. However, in the third set, the side faced defeat by 24-26. In the last set, the winning side again made a comeback to seal the win at 25-20.

Meanwhile, in the girls’ category, Andhra Pradesh defeated Chandigarh eves by 3-1. The local side opened their campaign with a win at 24-26. However, failed to carry forward the same form in the next three sets and tasted defeat by 25-10, 25-15 and 25-19. In another match of the same category, Gujarat defeated Punjab in straight games by 25-20, 25-10 and 25-14.
